The Environmental Division provides NEPA support for ensuring mission readiness and sustainable solutions through environmental planning, conservation of natural and cultural resources, environmental compliance, and environmental restoration. The Environmental Planner completes environmental planning efforts through the identification and assessment of the potential environmental effects of a proposed actions to allow informed decision-making. Environmental Planner’s prepare, review, and coordinate the completion of Categorical Exclusions (CATEXs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Impacts Statements (EISs) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or Executive Order (EO) 12114 Environmental Effects Abroad of Major Federal Actions.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Interpret laws, regulations and policies to ensure project proponents meet NEPA.
- Prepare CATEXs and review EAs and EISs for consistency with NEPA.
- Determine and track required biological and cultural resources surveys and air quality permits necessary for regulatory consultation to ensure on-time completion of NEPA projects.
- Lead project meetings and assist in resolving conflict related to NEPA, State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), and Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO).
- Serve as a point of contact for Public Works staff and tenant commands on project issues and progress to resolve conflict.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate at least one year of experience performing the following:
- Assisting in the preparation and review of Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impacts Statements, in accordance with the NEPA, including the necessary supporting studies, research, fieldwork, and analyses.
- Assisting with the tracking of environmental planning aspects of projects such as consultation and permitting.
- Supporting interdisciplinary teams and participating in discussions with stakeholders to resolve project planning concerns.
- Maintaining project records, databases, and administrative records.
* Partial telework may be available, subject to needs of the mission.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Driver's License
- Bachelor's of Science in Community Planning; Natural Resources; Biological Sciences; Physical Science, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
- Must hold U.S. Citizenship
- Aged 18 or older at time of hire
